Kumho Tires

Kumho Tires Company Inc.

Kumho Tires was established in South Korea in 1960. The company was originally named Samyang Tire, but ultimately changed their name to Kumho (which means "bright lake" in Korean). In the early years, Kumho utilized primitive technology and only produced about 20 tires per day. Today, however, Kumho utilized the latest technology for research, design, testing, and manufacturing. Kumho Tires is currently one of the top nine tire companies in the world.

Kumho produces a wide variety of tires passenger cars, light trucks, commercial trucks, and buses. Within it's passenger car line, Kumho has a variety of specialized tires to suit different vehicles and driving conditions. Kumho's "Competition" tires are designed with racing in mind and include models like the Ecsta V710, Ecsta V70A, and Victoracer V700.

The Kuhmo "Ultra High Performance" line of tires includes models such as: Ecsta DX, Ecsta MX, Ecsta KH11, Ecsta ASX, Ecsta SPT, and Ecsta Supra. The Kumho Ecsta DX is probably the most unique of the bunch here because the tire is scented. Yes, I said "scented." The Ecsta DX is targeted at high-end luxury sedan owners and it has a lavender fragrance integrated into the rubber. I can't think of why you'd need scented tires, unless you want your Bentley to smell fresh after you do donuts around your gated community.

Kuhmo's "High Performance" line of tires will probably appeal to the broadest group of Honda owners. This group includes the Ecsta AST, Ecsta 711, Solus KH16, and Ecsta HP4. These tires are primarily built for all around performance. They are all season tires which aim to offer a combination of high mileage, wet traction, handling, and a quiet ride.

Another interesting Kumho tire is the Ecsta SPT Colored Smoke. These babies are purely for show (along with some performance I guess). This tire is stated to be for competition use only and supposed isn't designed for public road use. What makes the tire unique is that colored dye is mixed in with the rubber compound. So, if you smoke the tires you get colored smoke. So, if you're into burn out competitions or just want to color-coordinate your smoke shows, this may be the tire for you. Available in red, yellow, or blue.
