I had Avid T4s on my 83 Celica and was very happy with them. They rode well and shed water well too. After 40k miles they still had 4/32 on them, and even at that point wouldn't hydroplane unless I hit a lake of standing water at speed. Proper inflation is very important in that respect as underinflated tires trap water underneath. They handle great, give a comfortable ride, and are pleasantly quiet, even with the windows open. Their cornering is smooth and predictable, and their wet and dry traction is good too. They are NOT suitable for, slush, snow and ice though, so don't even consider it. |

I've been running the Avid T4 tires for about a year now. They seem to handle much better than the BFG's that I had previously, however I'm not super impressed with their performance in bad weather (rain/snow).
On dry pavement, they handle turns well and don't seem to squeal easily when properly inflated. Living in Jersey though, we see a fair amount of bad weather in winter and I'm not happy with their performance then. If you live in the south, I'd recommend these. If you're in the snowbelt, I'd find something else. |
